Central College

PELLA—Central College pitchers Joel Pulliam (senior, Des Moines, Lincoln HS) and Dirk Lindaman (junior, Ankeny) have been named to the Rawlings American Baseball Coaches Association Division III all-Central Regional baseball team.

Pulliam is a first-team choice while Lindaman is a second-team pick. It’s the first year both have been selected and the first time since 2010 Central has had more than one player honored.

Pulliam, the Iowa Conference pitcher of the year, is a three-time all-league selection and a first-team honoree this year. He posted an 8-1 record with a 2.79 earned run average. He yielded 62 hits and 26 walks in 80.2 innings while striking out 77. He broke school career marks for strikeouts (226) and shutouts (5).

Lindaman, a first-team all-league pick, pitched a 6-1 record with a 1.79 ERA. He allowed 49 hits and 16 walks in 60.1 innings and struck out 37.

Pulliam and Lindaman helped the Dutch pitching staff set school season records for victories (29), lowest ERA (2.43) and shutouts (6).

Ninth-year coach Adam Stevens guided Central to its first outright conference baseball title since 1948. The Dutch compiled a 29-11 overall record and a 19-5 league mark, winning the crown by a four-game margin.
