Paul "Marty" Davidson

Oskaloosa. Paul Martin “Marty” Davidson, 63, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, as result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on April 22, 2012. He was the son of Burdon and Doris Nelson Davidson, born on March 28, 1949, at Riverside, California. He graduated from the Clear Lake Iowa High School with the class of 1968. Following high school he served in the United States Army. Following his discharge he returned to Mason City and went to work for Winnebago Industries. On May 13, 1972, he was united in marriage to Trudy Wyscarver in Oskaloosa. In 1973 they moved to Boulder, Colorado, where Marty worked for Pepsi Cola driving a route truck. In 1976, they moved to Oskaloosa, and he continued to work for Pepsi and later for Clow Valve. In 1983 Marty started his career as a long haul driver first for Lynn’s Transport, Food Liner and was currently driving for West Side Transit out of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Eagles, V.F.W., and ABATE. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, animals: especially dogs, target shooting, reading, watching movies and was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan.

His family includes his wife of 40 years, Trudy Davidson of Oskaloosa; two children, Wade Davidson (& Amy Hines) of Pella and Paige Davidson (& Casey Mathes) of Pella; three grandchildren, Naden and Olivia Davidson and Mira Mathes; his father; a brother: Lee Davidson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a sister and brother in law: Mary Ann and Terry Osborn of University Park; and nieces and nephews, Abby Wilson, Alex Osborn, Elizabeth, Rachel and Chris Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Open visitation will begin Friday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, and the family will be present from 5-7 Friday evening to greet friends and relatives. As was his wish, he will be cremated following the visitation and no formal services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
