GRINNELL’S STROMQUIST NAMED TO ALL-MWC SOUTH DIVISION TEAM
GRINNELL, Iowa – For the third time in her career, Grinnell College softball player Amanda Stromquist ’12 has been named to the All-Midwest Conference South Division Team.
Stromquist, from Minneapolis, Minn. (Southwest), was named to the team as a first baseman. She led the Pioneers this season in batting average (.275), slugging percentage (.406), on-base percentage (.342), hits (.19) and doubles (six) plus ranked fourth in RBIs with five.
She had the team’s lone homer of the season, a round-tripper that gave her the Pioneers’ all-time career lead at nine. Stromquist was also Grinnell’s top pitcher in 2012.
Lauren Bergstresser of Monmouth College was the South Division’s Player of the Year, while Erin Rutledge of Illinois College was the Pitcher of the Year. Mark Brayfield of Illinois College was tabbed Coach of the Year.
In the North, Steph Brunette of St. Norbert College was named Player of the Year, while Stephanie Rieuwpassa of Ripon College and Taylor Steinhilber of Carroll University shared Pitcher of the Year honors. Amy Gradecki of Carroll was Coach of the Year.
