William Penn Women's Athletics

Oskaloosa–Despite sweeping the Midwest Collegiate Conference’s regular season and tournament titles, the Lady Statesmen softball team will likely be one of the lowest seeds at next week’s national tourney as the NAIA released its eighth and final poll today.

The Lady Statesmen (46-16) did not move from last week, remaining #27 with 79 points, 26 more than last week. The squad remains the only representative from the Midwest Collegiate Conference in the poll and is the top team in the state of Iowa. Morningside made a huge jump to #33 (ten points), while Northwestern is tied for 39th with one point.

The top five is also unchanged with Concordia (Calif.) #1 for the sixth-straight week. The Eagles have 529 points and all 19 first-place votes. Cal State-San Marcos, Oklahoma City, Central Baptist (Ark.), and Lubbock Christian (Texas) round out the top five.

The NAIA will announce the pool play pairings Wednesday.
