Stage Academy Set To Perform

George Daily Community Auditorium

Daily Youth Theatre’s after-school program Stage Academy will be performing this Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5. Stage Academy’s open-enrollment general session will be putting on Hercules and The Emperor’s New Groove on Friday evening, and the program’s auditioned group Act II will perform Alice in Wonderland on Saturday. Performances begin at 7:00 p.m. each night at the George Daily Auditorium, and are free and open to the public.

Students in grades 1-8 participate in Stage Academy, and rehearse two or three times a week after school during a six-week session. During this time they learn about teamwork, self-expression and creativity, and work with their fellow students to put together a live stage production. This session is the largest Stage Academy has ever had, and is comprised of 52 local students.

The shows this week mark 33 productions for Daily Youth Theatre in less than two years. During that time, the program has had a total participation of 700 students, with participants coming from Ottumwa, Eddyville, New Sharon and Pella, as well as the Daily’s local Oskaloosa.
