Betty J. Burtlow

Betty J. Burtlow, 82, of Oskaloosa died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born Friday, August 30, 1929, in Delta, Iowa the daughter of Nason Grant and Daisy Geneiva Sparks Burtlow. Following school she began her family and stayed at home to raise and care for her children. She frequently attended Jubilee Church in Oskaloosa. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very good singer and enjoyed doing it whenever she could. She also enjoyed dancing especially tap dancing.

She is survived by her son: Richard Kerr and family of Lexington, South Carolina; 3 daughters: Judy Glandon, Brenda Kay (& Eric Green) Andreas and Teresa Ann (& Elvin) Brown of Eddyville, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Gina (& Stan) Vitt, Nichola, Jessica, Elvin (& Ellen Moore) Brown, Jr., Fallon Brown and Jacob Reames; her sister: Judy Hunter and a sister-in-law: Evelyn Teed.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; two sons: Leslie Eugene Glandon and Michael Levon Glandon; and a brother: Dale Burtlow; and a brother in law, Ronald L. Hunter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery in Delta, Iowa. Visitation will begin Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with the family present from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
