Absentee Ballots Now Available For June Primary Election

Kay Swanson, Mahaska County Auditor, announces that absentee ballots for the Primary Elections to be held June 5th are now available in the Auditor’s Office.

Absentee voting in the Mahaska County Auditor’s Office will begin Thursday, April 26. Any person unable to get to the polls on June 5th may send a written request An absentee ballot will be sent upon the Auditor’s Office receiving a written request. Please go to the Secretary of State’s website http://sos.iowa.gov and download the Absentee Ballot Request Form. A voter may also write their request on a blank piece of paper, no smaller than 3 X 5 inches. Your request must state you would like to vote in the Primary Election, June 5, 2012, ballot requested (Republican or Democratic ballot), your current address, the address you would like the ballot mailed to (such as a PO Box). Please include the voter’s date of birth and a day time phone number where the voter can be reached. Each person requesting a ballot must sign their own request for an absentee ballot. Mail your request to: Mahaska County Auditor, Kay Swanson, 106 South 1st Street, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577.

Absentee ballots may also be voted in the Auditor’s Office daily from 8:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M., Monday thru Friday. The last day to vote absentee in the office is Monday, June 4th. The Auditor’s Office will be open Saturday, June 2nd, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for absentee voting.
