MCG to host 2012 eCycling Event
Oskaloosa, Iowa – You can make a difference this April 21st as MCG invites Mahaska County residents to bring in their old electronics to be recycled in an environmentally safe and secure manner. All items will be professionally processed by Midwest Electronic Recovery of Walford, Iowa. The eCycle event will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the MCG parking lot (South of the Oskaloosa Hy-Vee).
Accepted items include computer monitors, video game systems, cell phones, printers, personal computers, laptops, stereos, televisions, keyboards, DVD players and VCRs.
Mahaska County businesses are also invited to participate and all items will be accepted free of charge with the exception of CRT Monitors. There will be a $5 charge for each monitor.
Electronics are becoming one of the fastest growing portions of America’s trash according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ECycling not only recovers valuable material from old electronics, which can be used to make new electronics, but it helps prevent harmful substances from entering the landfill.
Funding for the 2012 eCycling event will be provided by MCG. Other sponsors include Midwest Sanitation and Recycling and Mahaska County Trees Forever. Although there is no charge for this service to residents, donations will be accepted and given to local non-profit organizations including the Tyler Sash Foundation and Mahaska County 4H. For more information, log onto www.mahaska.org or call MCG at 676-1000.
