Eddyville Blakesburg Band Student Wins Best of Center Award

On Saturday March 31st, Jessica Jones was awarded the Best of Center – Outstanding Soloist Award for her flute solo performance at State Solo and Ensemble Contest at Clarke High School in Osceola. This prestigious award is not given unless there is a performance of the most outstanding caliber. Jessica won this award last year for her piccolo solo at State Contest. According to band director Joe Overton, an EB student hasn’t won this award since 1989. Jessica studies privately with renowned instructor, Bernie Allgood.
