Sandquist Picked for Drost Award, Douglas MVP of MBB Team
Oskaloosa–Student Assistant Coach Blake Sandquist highlighted the list of men’s basketball honorees as the Statesmen basketball program announced its team awards.
Sandquist was this year’s recipient of the Jackson Drost Team Award. The award is given annually to the member of the varsity team that exemplifies pride in the program, hard work, academic achievement, and coachability. The award was created and named after former Student Assistant Coach Jackson Drost for his and his family’s devotion to Statesmen Basketball.
“Blake Sandquist is everything the Drost Award was created to be,” Statesmen Head Coach John Henry said. “The Drost family and Blake Sandquist are what we want our program and team to represent.”
Senior Alan Douglas (Champaign, Ill., Lakeland CC) was named Team MVP as he received Second-Team All-America and first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference recognition this year.
“Alan Douglas will forever be a Statesmen legend,” Henry said.
