Eddyville Blakesburg Jazz Band Wins at Indianola

On Saturday February 18th, the EBHS Jazz Band placed 1st at the Indianola Jazz Encounter. The band outscored 6 other bands in class 2A including the perennial power house Okoboji Jazz Band. Several students were honored with Outstanding Soloist Awards: Jered Abernathy; guitar, Anna Haselhuhn; trumpet, Tanner Powers; vibes, Jackson Voyles; bass, and Brooke Lunsford; alto saxophone.

Eddyville Blakesburg Jazz I will compete at the Indian Hills Jazz Fest this weekend. The perform at 9:15 at the Bridgeview Center. On March 3rd the band will compete at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. E/B performs at 11:45. The 1st and 2nd place bands at this contest will qualify to compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships in April.

The Eddyville Blakesburg Jazz Band Concert will be on Thursday March 15th at 7:00 p.m.
