Albia’s Shadow Leshen remains in the hunt for a state title in weight class 113 at the State High School Wrestling Tournament in 2A. Leshen is now 47-5 on the season with a win over Brady Jennings of Osage 8-7. Leshen is the last Albia grappler still alive in the tournament. Sophomore brother Brett Leshen was defeated twice yesterday and eliminated. Brett had just 4 losses on the year coming into the tournament but had a tough match ups and was pinned by Coby Moores of Carlisle with just 15 seconds left in the match.

Meanwhile, PCM’s Dalton Kingery looks to capture a medal and can finish as high as 3rd place today. Kingery has only lost 2 matches all season – with the second one coming at the tournament. Complete results below.

As a team, Albia is in 18th place, and PCM is in 25th place going into today’s matches.

Osky’s Jones in 6th place going into the finals

Oskaloosa’s Dane Jones won a thrilling overtime match Friday at the State High School Wrestling tournament in 3A weight class 195. Jones lost his opening round match on Thursday 3-5, but has fought back and won the next 3 – including a nailbiter win in overtime to Nick Jepsen of Urbandale 3-1. Jones has had 2 pins during the tournament, and is still vying for 3rd place. He will take to the mats today to take on Keaton Jurevitz of Bettendorf. Jones is now 37-8 going into this match. If he wins his next 2 matches, he can place as high as 3rd in the state. KIIC will have the matches live today on 96.7FM.
