Underwood Tabbed as POY, Powell Also on First Team
Oskaloosa–Breanne Underwood (Sr., Treynor, Treynor HS) was chosen as her league’s top roller as the all-Midwest Collegiate Conference women’s bowling team was announced Monday.
Underwood led the five-person squad as the league’s Player of the Year, while teammate Samantha Powell (Jr., Herriman, Utah, Bingham HS) was also named to the team. Both are now two-time all-MCC honorees.
Tricia Zimmerman of Ashford earned Newcomer of the Year accolades, while Jim Socha of Viterbo received the Coach of the Year award.
Through 55 games, Underwood has posted an MCC-leading 193.8 average, including a season-high game of 259. The senior is #18 in the most recent collegebowling.com rankings and has four top-ten finishes to her credit.
Powell owns a 188.2 average over 61 games, including tying her own single-game school-record of 279. The 43rd-ranked junior has also placed in the top ten four times.
With just one regular season tourney left on the schedule, #15 William Penn is basically guaranteed a bid to postseason competition at the USBC Sectionals in March.
