Stoutner Delivers from Deep to Snag First Accolade

Taylor Stoutner was the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Oskaloosa–Taylor Stoutner (Jr., Keota, Keota HS) was dynamite from downtown last week and his efforts earned him the Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award today.

Stoutner, a first-time honoree, guided the Statesmen (13-11, 8-4 MCC) to a 2-1 record last week, including wins over Waldorf and #25 Mount Mercy.

The junior averaged 24.0 points and 7.3 rebounds, including a career-high 32 points in last Saturday’s victory over Mount Mercy. In that contest, Stoutner finished 10-of-22 (all from beyond the arc) to set single-game records for made and attempted three-pointers.

He finished 19-of-43 from the perimeter last week and is now just one trifecta shy of tying Jacob Spielbauer’s single-season record of 101 made three-pointers during the 2006-2007 campaign. His 268 attempts (also set Saturday) demolished Spielbauer’s previous single-season three-point attempts mark (250).

For the year, Stoutner is averaging 15.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per matchup. He has also posted 31 assists, five blocks, and 14 steals. A 40.4% shooter overall, he is 37.3% from three-point land.

The award is the fourth in a row for the program (four total for the year).
