Visitation: will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday morning, January 17, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, January 18, 2012 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating.
Interment: Forest Cemetery
Colleen passed away Sunday afternoon, January 15, 2012, at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.
Beverly Colleen Ward, daughter of Dale and Luella Colville Marshall, was born July 27, 1932 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a 1951 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and then worked as a cashier at United Grocery Store. She was united in marriage to Paul Ward, October 9, 1953, in Lancaster, Missouri. Colleen and Paul made their home in Oskaloosa and Colleen was a stay-at-home mom until her three daughters graduated high school. She later worked for Jean Barnhill at the A & W Rootbeer Shop and then as a bookkeeper and secretary for Marcia Boughton at the Hair Care Center. Colleen served at the election polls for many years for Oskaloosa’s First Ward. She was a member of Ladies Eagle’s Auxillary. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Colleen enjoyed crocheting and visiting Meskwaki and Prairie Meadows Casinos playing the One-Arm-Bandits.
Colleen’s family includes her husband, Paul of more than 58 years; their three daughters: Vicki and Rocky Stevens of Oskaloosa; Julie Van Englehoven of Oskaloosa and Sheli and Bobby Carter of Glidden, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Shannon (Shon) Sherwood of Oskaloosa, Wendy (Greg) Tweedy of Oskaloosa, Kelsey Van Englehoven of Altantic, IA, Eric Van Englehoven of Oskaloosa, Kryston Carter of Ames, IA, Alex Carter of Omaha, NE and Andrew Carter of Cedar Rapids, IA; five great grandchildren: Khearston, Brennon, Braxton, Madison and Ayishah.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents.
