Steffeck Hits Blackjack Twice for League Honor

William Penn's Keith Steffeck goes up for a massive dunk versus Viterbo

Oskaloosa–Keith Steffeck (Jr., Marion, Marion HS) stepped up as his team’s leading scorer slumped and for his efforts he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Steffeck, a first-time honoree, guided the Statesmen (9-10, 4-3 MCC) to a 1-1 record during a difficult week. William Penn lost to ranked Grand View Wednesday, but knocked off Clarke (who was receiving votes) Saturday.

The junior averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. He scored 21 points in each contest, while top scorer Alan Douglas (Sr., Champaign, Ill., Lakeland CC) was limited to a 4.0 average.

Steffeck, who made his debut on New Year’s Eve (five games played), has a 14.0 scoring average. He has also pulled down 6.2 rebounds with one assist and five blocks. The post is knocking down 48.9% of his shots, is 84.2% from the line, and has made 38.1% of his three-pointers.

The award is the second for the program this year.
