Oskaloosa Minister Announces Bid For Iowa Senate

Mark Doland

OSKALOOSA- Oskaloosa minister, Mark Doland, said that he will be a strong voice with respect to a plethora of issues for his constituents.

Doland announced his candidacy for the newly drawn Iowa Senate District #40, which includes Mahaska, Pella in Marion, Appanoose, Monroe and a part of Wapello counties.

“Our voice has been missing for a long time in the Iowa Senate,” Doland said. “The people of this district have voiced their opinion to the politicians in Des Moines, and our legislators have ignored us.” “There are thousands of Iowans who are unemployed, entrepreneurs are shutting down family businesses, and our schools have slipped in student achievement.” “I will take steps to open Iowa up for business again and address serious education reform.”

Doland, who is a minister, has lived in Mahaska County for almost seven years. He was born and raised in Polk County, Iowa. He attended Southeast Polk High School in Runnells, Iowa. In 2002, Doland was called into the ministry and graduated from Bear Valley Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado. Upon completion, he returned to Iowa, taking a ministry in Oskaloosa where he has served as the minister for almost seven years. Doland has also spent a lot of time in the private sector working to strengthen families through various agencies. Mark has been married to his wife Jennifer for nine years. He has four children. Skylar, Breauna, and Emma attend Oskaloosa Christian School and Mercedes is attending Iowa School of Beauty in Ankeny.

“I am a strong advocate for the family, which I believe is the cornerstone that holds our nation together,” said Doland. “Our traditional Iowa values have been under attack in recent years through the judiciary and our elected officials have failed to hold them accountable.” “I will push for legislation that promotes one-man and one-woman marriage as well as personhood legislation that will guarantee rights for the unborn.”

Mark has been very active in politics since moving to Oskaloosa. In 2008, he served as Danny Carroll’s campaign manager. In 2010, he served as Bob Vander Plaats’ statewide faith leaders coalition coordinator. Also in 2010 Mark traveled the state on a speaking tour with Iowa Family Policy Center to encourage Iowans to vote “no” on the judicial retention elections which was a historic victory.

Mark has been known as a fighter and a defender of the freedoms that we all hold dear. He is willing to stand up for what is right regardless of the party who is pushing for bad legislation. “ I realize people can only differentiate the two parties in Iowa by the one who is in power and the one who is out. I look forward to engaging in a positive discussion about how best to advance our state in the right direction,” Doland said “I will not only represent you with my vote, I will push and champion your issues in the Iowa Senate to restore our state to prominence once again.”
