Question of the week: Do you believe that the job plans presented by Terry Branstad and Chet Culver will work?
This past week, we asked you if you had been annoyed by the recent negative campaign ads. 46 residents (84%) voted yes meanwhile 9 residents (16%) voted no. The question of the week is unscientific and does not reflect the view of Osky News.
This week we will continue with our political questions. In this year’s gubernatorial campaign, the main issue has appeared to be job creation. With the large loss of jobs in Iowa over the past couple of years, everyone seems to be worried about jobs. This year, Republican challenger Terry Branstad has promised to create 200,000 jobs while citing that he created 300,000 jobs when he was previously governor. Democrat incumbent, Chet Culver, has promised to create even more jobs in a second term while citing the thousands of jobs that have been create of his I-Jobs programs.
To many voters, a campaign promise of more jobs seems to just be icing on the cake. Who wouldn’t vote for a person who was promising to create 200,000 jobs or to create many more jobs after creating jobs in a previous term? Those who are against these plans say that it is not the governor’s responsibility to create jobs. These people also say that in fact, the governor has no power to create more jobs.
Now it is your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The polls will be open until next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final results. If you have any comments on this, fell free to e-mail us at info@oskynews.org or comment on our facebook page.
