County Democrats hold annual Soup Supper

2011 Mahaska County Democrat Soup Supper

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Mahaska County Democrats held their annual soup supper last Thursday evening. This year’s turnout was slightly lower, as expected by some regular attenders, because of this year being an “off year” for State and Federal elections. Mahaska County Paul DeGeest was in attendance serving up ladles of his Chili. Potato and Cheesy Vegetable Soup in addition to many different types of Pies were also available. The Soup Supper started at 5:00 PM and by 5:15 PM, a large group was already in attendance.

As in previous years, candidates for office are in attendance and this year was no different. Joe Judge, candidate for Iowa House District 80, was at the dinner talking with attendees. Judge was present with his Brother Dien and his Father John. The crowd stayed pretty consistent throughout the evening. Towards the end of the supper, a chorus of happy birthday was lead for Donna Gatton who was celebrating her birthday that day.
