Question of the Week: Do you believe we have too much government?

Oskaloosa, Iowa- Last week, we asked you if were excited for the new stadium. 41 residents responded with 30 residents (73%) saying Yes, 7 residents (17%) saying No, and 4 residents (10%) saying Unsure. The Question of the Week Poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views or opinions of Osky News.

This week we turn to a national issue. For the past few months now, we have heard discussions on whether or not our government has grown too much. Many political candidates have expressed this thought in debates and in their campaign advertisements. Last week at a city council work session over the International Property Code, some residents expressed concerns that our local government is starting to get too large. They expressed thoughts that they feel the Government is becoming too intrusive on ordinary lives.

Those who believe we have too much government cite messages pushed by current political candidates. They say that Government has become too controlling of the average citizen and that they have placed too many mandates on different things. Those who believe we don’t have too much government cite recent landmark legislation. They say that it is the government’s responsibility to help citizens and that they provide very important services to the average citizen.
