City Election Candidate Filing Begins

Oskaloosa, Iowa- Filing for the Oskaloosa Municipal Election has begun. The first day to file nomination papers to run for Oskaloosa City Council or Oskaloosa Mayor was on Monday August 29th. The final day to file is Thursday September 22nd at 5 PM. Candidates can file their nomination papers in the Oskaloosa City Clerk’s Office located on the first floor of City Hall at 220 South Market Street in Oskaloosa.

Candidates must file a nomination affidavit and nomination petitions to be included on the ballot. The signature requirements are: Mayor- 38 signature, City Council At-Large- 18 Signatures, City Council 2nd and 4th Ward- 10 Signatures. All petition signers must live within the City of Oskaloosa. As of Wednesday, one person has filed to run that person being Dave Krutzfeldt who filed to run for re-election as Mayor of Oskaloosa.

The 2011 Municipal Election will be held on November 8th. Positions to be included on the ballot this year are: Oskaloosa Mayor, one Oskaloosa City Council At-Large spot, Oskaloosa City Council 2nd Ward Representative, Oskaloosa 4th Ward Representative.
