City of Oskaloosa preparing for Urban Deer Management Season

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The City of Oskaloosa is preparing for the upcoming 2011/2012 Urban Deer Hunting Season, to be held withing the Oskaloosa City limits. This bow hunting season will run from September 10th, 2011 thru January 29th, 2012.

Bow hunters interested in participating in this hunt must pass an archery proficiency test, consisting of 5 shots from 20 yards. The hunter must score at least 80% accuracy within an 8 inch circle target. Hunters will be allowed 2 attempts during this test.

Two testing dates have been set for this upcoming season. This testing will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene “Alternative Building”, located in the 200 block of South 11th Street. The dates for this testing are: Thursday, August 25th at 7 P.M. and Saturday, August 27th at 9 A.M.. Any bow hunter interested in participating in the 2011/2012 Oskaloosa Urban Deer Hunt must attend, and pass, one of these proficiency tests. Hunters need to bring a current form of identification and their Iowa Hunting License with them to this testing.

The Oskaloosa Urban deer Management Program has established rules which each hunter must follow.
