The Penn Souper Bowl Benefit

Candace Allsup designed a bowl for William Penns Souper Bowl fundraiser.

The Penn Souper Bowl was a big success. The event held October 3rd at the William Penn PAC Center had lots of good food and an opportunity to mingle with the artists.

I caught up with William Penn University’s President Ann Fields about today’s event. She said today’s event “was an opportunity to welcome the community to William Penn and get them involved with the inauguration.” President Ann Fields was recently inaugurated as William Penn University’s first female president.

She explained that there were “Elementary and Middle Schools Kids, we had different community groups, I know the Chamber came, Musco came, Butler Brown came, UA, AAUW came and made these bowls, and so the bowls are being sold for $20 each, but all the food is donated, so we had area restaurants donate all the food. So the money then is going to go half to the Ecumenical Food Pantry, and half to operations for Rwanda to buy textbooks for children in Rwanda.”

“We just thought it was a great way to involve everybody” Ann Fields said.

I asked bowl creator and soup dinner participant Candace Allsup about her experience. “The money is going to a good cause in Rwanda, and had fun molding the bowl”
