Wyatt Earp Returns to Pella for Tulip Time
Wyatt Earp, great-grand nephew of the iconic lawman with the same name, will be visiting Pella during Tulip Time this year. Earp will be performing a play at the Pella Opera House portraying his famous relative.
The legendary historic figure resided in Pella from 1850-1864 during his boyhood years of 2-16. His family owned a farm near Pella before joining a wagon train headed west, where he became famous for his years as a lawman.
While in Pella this May, the great-grand nephew of the Old West icon will be performing Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier. This one-man play re-enacts the historic lawman recalling his adventures in the West.
The modern-day Earp will also be spending time at the boyhood home of his great-grand uncle. He will be dressed in character, and you will have a chance to have a personal conversation with him.
Tulip Time this year takes place from May 5 to 7. Pella comes alive during Tulip Time with tulips, Dutch attire, parades, food, and fun.
Mr. Earp’s visit to Pella is sponsored by the Vermeer Charitable Foundation. There will be two performances of the show: May 5 and 6 at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call 641-628-8628 or visit pellaoperahouse.org for more information.
