Diamond Bar’s Yang to Hit Links for Penn

A two-time all-league performer, Maggie Yang participated in three CIF Individual Championships in high school
Oskaloosa–William Penn University women’s golf coach Nik Rule has announced the signing of Maggie Yang to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the women’s golf program.
Maggie, the daughter of Steve and Tina Wu Yang, is from Chino, Calif. and will graduate from Diamond Bar HS this spring.
A four-time letterwinner, Yang has won or medaled in numerous high school and junior tournaments. A Brahmas Hall of Famer, she reached the CIF Individual Championships as a junior and senior. She was a three-time CIF Southern Section finalist and CIF Northern Division runner-up once.
Yang went undefeated in Hacienda League play in 2010 and was received all-league recognition twice. She guided her Diamond Bar team to a title at the Rosary Tournament as well as an appearance in the CIF Sectional Finals.
In junior play a year ago, she won the JJGT President’s Cup title and placed fourth in the Toyota Tour Cup Series standings.
A strong student as well, she received Scholar-Athlete recognition all four years as a prep.
“I am extremely psyched to play for William Penn!” Yang said. “After meeting the coaches, the girls (…aka my teammates!!!), and learning about the academic and golf programs, I knew that this is the school for me. All I needed was three days to feel like a part of the team. I can’t wait for college to start. In the meantime I am going to continue to work hard to prepare for this upcoming year! William Penn, here I come!!!”
“Maggie is a dynamic player with a serious desire to win, which is exactly what we are looking for as we build this program into a conference powerhouse,” Rule said. “She has had a very successful junior and high school golf career which is a testament to her serious work ethic and understanding on what it takes to win at the highest level. We cannot wait to have her wearing the Lady Statesmen navy and gold.”
