NO. 11 WARRIORS, MUSTANGS BATTLE TO 1-1 DRAW

Green River, WY – The No. 11 ranked Indian Hills Women’s Soccer squad earned a 1-1 draw in its first of three matches in state of Wyoming, drawing even with Western Wyoming College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors clashed with the Mustangs in Green River, WY, the team’s first of three matchups in the Cowboy State over the next five days. With the draw, Indian Hills moves to 2-0-2 on the year.

Freshman forward Mary Brown (Melbourne, Australia/Our Lady of Mercy College) tallied her first collegiate goal at the 38:34 mark of the opening half to put Indian Hills on the board first. Brown teamed up with sophomore Jenevieve Kuriki (Pleasant Hill, IA/Southeast Polk) and freshman Pamela Martin (Maracay, Venezuela/Dawere International) for the initial goal.

The Mustangs responded in the second half for the equalizer as the two sides remained deadlocked the rest of the way for the result.

Sophomore Annabelle Combes (Marseille, France/Tezenas du Montcel), this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Women’s Soccer and Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, stopped five shots in net for the Warriors.

Indian Hills returns to action Friday afternoon with a trip to Riverton, WY to take on Central Wyoming College at 4:00 PM.
