Joni Davis, 71, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born October 1, 1954, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Jean and Patricia Smith Orman.

Joni graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1972.

She was united in marriage to Keith Davis. Three children were born to this union, Kevin, Brian, and Juli. Joni and Keith later divorced.

Joni worked various places throughout her life including Pleasant Park Care Center, Oskaloosa Wal-Mart, Oskaloosa Hy-Vee Deli, and last at Pella Corporation. Though Joni worked outside the home, her primary focus was caring for her family and home. She was dedicated to caring for her son Brian and advocating for him and other patients with Spina Bifida.

She was a member of the Perry First Christian Church, Jayceettes, and bowling league. She was a talented swimmer and won several awards for swimming and synchronized swimming. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, word and number puzzles, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers. She was an avid Oskaloosa Softball and girls Basketball fan and was generally the first to call when the streaming services went down. Most of all she looked forward to spending time with family and friends.

Her family includes her two children and their spouses, Kevin (& Emily) Davis of Ankeny and Juli (& Tony) Johnson of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren: Keegan Davis, Kaelan Davis, Chase Davis, Isabel Davis, AJ (& Mallory) Johnson, Kaylee (& Wyatt) Krier, and Kassie Johnson; three great grandchildren: Maxyn, Henley, and Laynee Johnson; a sister, Lisa (& Jim) Burmeister of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Joni was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Davis; two brothers, Todd Orman and Charles Orman; a sister, Gena Jones; and her dog, Bella.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry, Iowa, with Chaplain Guy Almon officiating.
As was Joni’s wish her body has been cremated and no visitation is planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
