THREE SCHOOL RECORDS FALL IN TEXAS

Austin, TX – The Indian Hills Women’s Track and Field squad put together a historic performance over the weekend at both the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational.
As a program, the Warriors set three school records in convincing fashion. Sophomore Tiffani Koonce (Prairie City, IA/Prairie City-Monroe) broke her own school record in the 1,500-meter run at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday before teaming up with freshmen Rebecca Duran (El Paso, TX/Chapin), Abby George (Albia, IA/Albia), and Cindy Rose (__) to shatter the 4x800m relay on Saturday at the Texas Relays. Freshman Unique Redmond (Niceville, FL/Niceville) produced an impressive all-around weekend while shattering the school long jump record.
Koonce surpassed her previous personal record Friday night in the 1,500m with a time of 4:49.75 as the top junior college finisher in the event. Duran and fellow freshman Serene Thompson (Albia, IA/Albia) also added season-best performances in the event with times of 4:57.91 and 5:09.96, the fourth and sixth-best marks in school history, respectively.
Redmond starred in the jumps events at the Bobcat Invitational for the Warriors. The freshmen produced a remarkable performance in the long jump with a new school record distance of 6.03m, nearly 0.50 ahead of her previous personal-best mark. Redmond’s mark was good enough for second overall, one of just three individuals to surpass the 6.00m threshold.
Redmond added a strong showing in the high jump as well, placing 11th overall with a distance of 1.61m, tied for third-best in school history.
The Warrior quartet of Rose, Duran, George, and Koonce boasted a new school record in the 4x800m relay with a time of 9:14.96, more than a full minute ahead of the previous top mark in program history. Competing against the likes of the NCAA DI powerhouse programs Kentucky, Texas, and Rice, the Warriors placed seventh overall as a squad.
Sophomore Alexa Zanders (Waterloo, IA/Waterloo West) added a personal-best mark in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.28 to move into fourth place all-time in school history.
The Warriors will now head to the Arkansas Spring Invitational in Fayetteville, AR April 11.
