WARRIORS SWEEP DMACC IN HOME OPENER

Centerville, IA – The Indian Hills Baseball squad opened up its home portion of the 2026 schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Des Moines Area Community College on Thursday afternoon at historic Pat Daugherty Field. dropping the Bears 7-5 and 12-7. The Warriors move to 10-4 overall on the year.
Indian Hills used a solid offensive performance in each end of Tuesday’s twinbill to take down the Bears for the team’s second consecutive doubleheader sweep over DMACC. The Warriors pounded out 20 hits on the day, including 14 alone in the nightcap. Indian Hills has now won eight of its last 10 contests.
The Warriors took advantage of a number of free bases in the opening frame of game one to take a commanding 5-0 lead through the first. JD Moffett (Omaha, NE/Millard West) delivered a two-run double while Jacob Pruitt (Bradford, Ontario/Bradford District) tacked on a run-scoring single to aid in the attack early on.
DMACC made a push through the middle parts of the ballgame, but a strong showing on the mound from sophomore Yuan-Kai Chang (Taipei, Taiwan/Taipei Dai), this week’s Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Chang held the Bears hitless through the first three frames before sophomore Anton Keith (Boulder, CO/Fairview) closed out the win in relief.
Moffett finished the opener 2-3 at the dish, including two doubles to go along with the pair of RBI. Chang improved to 4-0 on the bump this season, striking out seven batters while scattering four hits. Keith earned his third save of the year with 1.1 innings of work in relief.
DMACC struck first in the nightcap with two runs in the first, but a solo home run in the home half of the frame from sophomore Callum Donnelly (Bulli, Australia/New Mexico JC) cut the deficit in half.
The Warriors broke things open in the third inning with six runs to pull ahead of the Bears. Sophomore Diego Mendez (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico/ESCAED) drove in a pair with a double to right center followed by a run-scoring two-bagger from Boris Rodriguez (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico/ESCAED). Sophomore Kevin Ramos (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/Springfield Commonwealth) tacked on an RBI single to push the lead to 6-2.
Leading 7-5 in the fourth, the Warriors erupted once again in the bottom half with five more runs to run away for the win. Moffett, Rodriguez, and Brody Geist (Arvada, CO/Standley Lake) all delivered run scoring knocks to seal the victory.
Ramos, Mendez, Rodriguez, Riku Kitagwa (Hokkaido, Japan/Osaka Toin), and Gage Perri (Andrews, TX/TCS Post Grad) all finished the nightcap with two hits apiece. Mendez collected two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored for the Warriors.
Moffett secured the win on the mound in relief while Connor Griess (Loveland, CO/Loveland) picked up his second save of the year with three strikeouts in two innings of work.
With a hit in each end of Thursday’s doubleheader, Perri extended his hitting streak to six games. The freshman is batting .529 with eight RBI and eight runs scored during the stretch.
Indian Hills will now head to Boone, IA to take on DMACC once again for a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
