Mahaska Health is pleased to announce the opening of its new Medical Weight Loss Clinic, which offers a physician and nurse-led approach to weight management focused on long-term health and personalized care. The Medical Weight Loss Clinic is led by Mark Zacharjasz, MD, Tara Stout, DNP, ARNP-BC, and Makayla Leathers, PA-C.
The medical weight loss team designs personalized programs around each patient’s health history, lifestyle, and goals, with an emphasis on sustainable progress. Patients begin with an initial consultation, followed by a comprehensive assessment and a customized treatment plan, with continued support and progress tracking throughout their care.
The clinic offers nutritional guidance, behavioral and mental health support, and ongoing monitoring with advanced body composition analysis using DEXA imaging to track fat mass, muscle mass, and metabolic changes. Treatment plans can include prescribed medication when appropriate.
“Medical weight loss looks different for every patient,” shared Mark Zacharjasz, MD, medical weight loss, and family medicine specialist at Mahaska Health. “The medical weight loss clinic allows us to assist patients to make steady, meaningful improvements to their health.”
Patients can schedule an appointment with one of Mahaska Health’s Family Medicine providers at 641.672.3360 and learn more about the Mahaska Health Medical Weight Loss Clinic by visiting mahaskahealth.org.
