Oskaloosa Girls Track Earns PRs and Podium Finishes at Grinnell Tiger Relays
Grinnell, Iowa — The Oskaloosa girls track and field team took a creative turn at the Grinnell Tiger Relays Tuesday night, as athletes took the lead in designing the meet’s lineup — and delivered a night full of personal records and strong individual efforts.
Tierney Carter led the charge with a standout performance in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second with a new personal best of 1:07.85. Delaney Harbour continued her consistent scoring with a third-place finish in the long jump, leaping to a new personal best of 16 feet, 6 inches.
Other personal records on the night included:
Kate McBurney in the 1500-meter run (5:42.04)
Delaney Harbour in the 100-meter dash (13.81)
Sabrina Frost in the 1500-meter run (5:47.6)
Kennedy Wright in the 100-meter hurdles (19.22)
Miley McCain, who recorded a PR split while running the 4×800-meter relay
The 4×800 relay team — made up of Vivian Bolibaugh, McCain, Emmalee Wells-Stout, and Carter — finished 6th overall with a time of 11:15.85. The throwers’ 4×100 relay, a fun late-meet tradition, also made a splash with a 3rd place finish.
While Oskaloosa finished 7th in team scoring with 11 points, the night was about more than standings. Several athletes challenged themselves with new events, stepping outside their comfort zones in a meet that focused on development, experimentation, and camaraderie.
With the regular season winding down, the girls will now turn their attention to next week’s Little Hawkeye Conference Championships, set for Thursday, May 8 at Dallas Center-Grimes.
