Oskaloosa Wrestling Battles Newton in Little Hawkeye Conference Dual
The Oskaloosa boys wrestling team faced off against Newton on Thursday night in a competitive Little Hawkeye Conference dual. Despite strong performances by several wrestlers, Newton ultimately secured the victory, edging Oskaloosa 46-34. The Indians’ season record now stands at 4-2 in dual action.
The dual featured intense back-and-forth action, with both teams securing key wins. Oskaloosa’s Ty Lorentzen (126 lbs) earned a victory by forfeit, while Kaiden Parker (138 lbs), Reid Luck (144 lbs), and Colton Shaffer (150 lbs) each notched impressive pins to boost the team’s score. Brock Beerbower (175 lbs) added another pin in just 55 seconds, and Parker Jordan (215 lbs) contributed a major decision with an 11-2 win.
Newton showcased its strength with several dominant performances, including pins by Lane Rozendaal (165 lbs) and Trevor Manka (190 lbs). The Cardinals also recorded technical falls at 132 and 157 pounds, and J’Kwon Williamson (113 lbs) and Kent Montgomery (106 lbs) picked up additional points through forfeits.
In extra matches, Oskaloosa’s Chad McDonald-Playle delivered two decisive pins, defeating Cameron Keener and Colter Shaw of Newton.
The Indians will return to the mat on January 9, traveling to Dallas Center-Grimes for another Little Hawkeye Conference matchup.
