Oskaloosa Freshmen Roll Past Fairfield in Season-Opener
The Oskaloosa boys’ freshman basketball team started their season strong with a decisive 63-30 win over Fairfield on Monday night.
Oskaloosa jumped out early, using tough defense to force turnovers and turning them into points on the offensive end. The Indians took a commanding 33-14 lead into halftime.
“We got off to a strong start, playing tough defense and forcing Fairfield to turn it over,” said coach Alex DeJong. “We capitalized on those opportunities and converted them into points.”
Oskaloosa didn’t let up after the break, outscoring Fairfield 22-10 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 55-24. The Indians stayed in control throughout the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The Indians were led by standout performances from Evion Knox, who scored a game-high 21 points, and Andrew Hersom, who added 17. Coleton Fawcett chipped in 11 points, while Jaxon Saville contributed 8 points.
The Indians will be back in action Friday night at home against Pella Christian.
