Five Honored as Scholar-Athletes

Oskaloosa–Five members of the William Penn football team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Liam Bryant (Jr., Jackson, Mo., Physical Education) led the group with a 3.98 Grade Point Average entering this fall, while Nasear Cumberbatch (Fr., St. Petersburg, Fla., Business Management) was closely behind at 3.94.

Lukas Hamilton (Sr., Columbus, Ohio, Secondary Education) topped the remaining trio at 3.89 with Cole Britton (So., Jackson, Mo., Industrial Technology) (3.69) and Amari Akins (Fr., Syracuse, N.Y., Sociology) (3.57) also meeting the criteria.

The award is the second for Britton, while Akins, Bryant, Cumberbatch, and Hamilton are all first-time honorees.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
