Oskaloosa Bowling Teams Shine at Home Match Against ADM

The Oskaloosa High School bowling teams returned to action at home today, taking on ADM in an impressive display of skill and teamwork. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams came away with victories, marking strong early-season performances.

The Oskaloosa boys continued their unbeaten streak, improving to 2-0 on the season with a dominant win over ADM. Trey VanWyk led the charge, posting a high two-game series of 504 and maintaining a stellar average of 254 through the early stages of the season. VanWyk had plenty of support from his teammates, including Cole Vanderwal, who rolled the day’s high game with a 275, and Kyle McHawes, who posted a 261 game and a 453 series. Cale Armbruster also shone with a 256 high game and a 438 series.

Coach Tony Witt praised the team’s efforts but noted room for improvement. “The boys struggled in the baker games again today, but we will get it figured out,” Witt said. “They still missed a lot of easy spares, so that will be something we have to work on throughout the season.”

On the girls’ side, the team rebounded from a season-opening loss to earn their first win, improving to 1-1. Sidney Thompson led the way with a high game of 200 and a high series of 377. Faith Carmer continued her strong start to the season, contributing the second-highest series with 310, while Abby Tarr rounded out the top three with a 297 series.

The girls showed significant progress, improving their overall score by 200 pins. “I am excited to keep seeing the improvements from both the boys’ and girls’ teams as the season progresses,” Witt remarked.

The junior varsity teams also showcased talent, with Drake Bartlett leading the JV boys with a 296 series and Aubrey Bowen pacing the JV girls with a 245 series.

Both Oskaloosa teams are poised for growth and continued success as the season unfolds. Fans can look forward to more strong performances from these determined bowlers.
