OMS Cross Country Teams Secure Third Place at Mt. Pleasant Meet

The OMS cross country teams traveled to Mt. Pleasant on a beautiful Tuesday evening, September 24, 2024, and both the boys’ and girls’ teams secured third-place finishes in the large class team race.

Leading the charge for the girls was Preslie Bryan, an 8th grader, who finished in 17th place with a time of 14:47. Close behind were Hazel Adam (18th, 14:53) and Payton Clark (19th, 14:57), who ran together and finished strong. All three girls earned spots on the meet’s Top 10 list, showcasing their impressive performances.

On the boys’ side, Oliver Chilcote led the team with a time of 13:31, earning him 26th place. Teammates Noah Ruckman and Kellen Kauslarich followed closely behind, finishing in 30th (13:55) and 32nd place (13:56), respectively. Like their female counterparts, these boys also made the meet’s Top 10 list for their outstanding efforts.

All 8th graders who participated last season saw huge improvements in their times, and new team members demonstrated significant progress from the season’s first meet. The upcoming challenge for the team is next Tuesday at the hilly Knoxville course, where the runners hope to continue their momentum and build on these successes.
