Oskaloosa 8th Grade Football Shuts Out Ottumwa in Season Opener

The Oskaloosa 8th grade football team kicked off their season in impressive fashion, defeating Ottumwa 14-0 on Thursday night. The Indians delivered a balanced attack and a stingy defense to secure their first win of the year.

Jamison Ruby led the charge for Oskaloosa, scoring both of the team’s touchdowns. Ruby’s first touchdown came just before halftime, breaking through the Ottumwa defense on a 17-yard rush with one minute remaining in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, Ruby struck again with an electrifying 60-yard touchdown run to seal the victory.

Oskaloosa’s defense was a dominant force throughout the game, holding Ottumwa scoreless and forcing three fumbles. The defense’s relentless effort ensured that Ottumwa never found its rhythm on offense.

In the “B” game, Oskaloosa continued their strong play, winning 6-0. Jace Armbruster connected with Kohen Keith for a 3-yard touchdown, providing the only score of the contest. Gabe Scott came up with a crucial interception, halting an Ottumwa drive and securing the win for Oskaloosa.

The Indians return to action on Tuesday with a road matchup against PCM. After a solid opening performance, Oskaloosa will look to continue their winning ways in their second game of the season.
