Big Innings Lifts Rockets Past NM

NEW SHARON – Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont used two big innings to power past the North Mahaska softball team 15-7 Tuesday. The Rockets outhit NM 15-11.

EBF (6-5) scored four in the top of the first inning and added three in the fifth and five in the sixth while NM scored four in the fourth to go with single runs in the first, sixth and seventh.

EBF senior shortstop Megan Lobbrecht ripped a double and homerun to drive in four runs, senior designated hitter Sydney Collett also drove in four on three singles. Junior Ela Ray drove in three runs.

The Rockets stole eight bases to just two for the host Warhawks. Freshman Kaylia Shipman had three hits for NM with a single and double to score two RBI. Sophomore Madeline Doonan had a single with two RBI. Junior Kayla Readshaw and sophomore Kylie Van Weelden each hit two singles.
