Oskaloosa Boys’ Track Team Shows Grit at District Qualifiers

The Oskaloosa boys’ track and field team delivered a commendable performance at the highly competitive District state qualifier meet held in Solon. Coach Mike Sterner expressed his pride in the team’s camaraderie and individual achievements.

“We have no automatic state qualifiers, but we did reach 3 season best event marks and 12 Personal World Record all-time bests,” Sterner noted.

Among those setting new personal records were Brock Beerbower in shot put, Tre Bullock in the 400 meters, Jaden DeRonde in the Distance Medley, Jonah DeVore in the shot put, Tyler Edgar in the 110-meter hurdles, Rickie Fields in the 400-meter hurdles, Blake Herny and Reid Luck in the 1600 meters, and Nathan McKim in the 100 meters.

Coach Sterner remained hopeful about the team’s prospects, stating, “We will await final results and will update if we have any qualifiers for next week’s state meet.”

The community’s support was palpable, as Sterner thanked everyone for “cheering on our young men,” highlighting the strong community backing that the athletes enjoyed.
