Oskaloosa Boys Golf Team Battles at Westwood Golf Course, Eyes Sectionals

Newton, IA – The Oskaloosa boys golf team was back on the greens Monday, May 6, competing at Westwood Golf Course in Newton. Leading the way for the Indians were Ryan Carriker and Johnathan Terpstra, both shooting a solid 79, which tied them for 9th place in a competitive field of 58 players.

Despite strong individual performances, the team faced challenges finding their rhythm as a whole, ultimately shooting a combined 339. Coach Brett Doud acknowledged the team’s effort, saying, “The boys battled but struggled a bit to find their rhythm.”

Now, the team turns its attention to the upcoming sectional tournament at Edmundson Golf Course, set for Wednesday, May 8. “We’re looking forward to sectionals and working hard to advance,” Doud emphasized. The shotgun tee-off will begin at 10:00 a.m.

The top two teams from the sectional competition will advance to the district tournament on Monday, May 13, in Williamsburg. With a spot in district play on the line, the Indians are determined to deliver a strong performance on their home course.

“We know the challenge ahead, and the boys are ready to give it their all,” said Doud. “We’re focused and motivated to compete at a high level.”
