Evans, Pilcher Claim Scholar-Athlete Accolades

Oskaloosa–Two members of the William Penn women’s bowling team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2023-2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes Wednesday.

Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) leads the duo with a 3.66 Grade Point Average, while Olivia Pilcher (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Exercise Science) qualifies with a 3.53 GPA.

The laurel is the fifth for Evans, while Pilcher is a first-time recipient. Evans is believed to have the most Scholar-Athlete awards in school history (all sports).

A total of 155 women’s bowlers from within the NAIA were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
