Woodland Hills, March 29, 2024—In their season opener, the Oskaloosa boys’ golf team navigated the challenges of the Saydel Eagles Boys’ Golf Invitational, finishing in sixth place amidst a competitive field. With an aggregate score of 326, the team didn’t hit their stride but saw it as a foundational step for the season ahead.

Linus Morrison, who posted an impressive score of 80, led the charge for Oskaloosa. Close on his heels were Johnathon Terpstra, Ryan Carriker, and Carter Blanco, each carding an 82, demonstrating the depth and potential within the team. Maddux Ashman and Nolan Scott rounded out the scoring for the team with scores of 88 and 90, respectively.

Coach Bret Foster remained optimistic, emphasizing the early stage of the season and the room for growth. “It wasn’t the start we hoped for, but it’s a long season ahead,” Coach Foster stated. “We’ve seen what we’re capable of and also what we need to work on. I’m confident in our team’s ability to bounce back and show what we’re truly made of in the competitions to come.”

The varsity team is already looking ahead, with their sights set on their next challenge at Albia next Thursday. The JV team is also eager to kick off their season, with their debut set for Monday in Newton. Both teams are focused on harnessing their potential and translating it into success on the golf course.
