Three Honored as NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Oskaloosa–Three individuals from the Statesmen women’s wrestling team were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2023-2024 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes Thursday.

Catherine Steinkamp (Jr., Quincy, Ill., Exercise Science), who is now a two-time award recipient, leads the trio with a 3.68 Grade Point Average.

Rachel Cotter (So., Katy, Texas Public Accounting), at 3.65, and Grecia Martinez (So., Horizon City, Texas, Industrial Technology), at 3.61, collected their first accolades.

A total of 125 women’s wrestlers were lauded by the NAIA.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport’s eligibility paperwork.
