Child Injured After Collision with Semi Truck on N Market

A frantic call for help from an incident Friday evening just after 5 p.m. had local emergency services go to the scene of a serious accident.

The serious accident involved a young child and a semi-truck on N Market in Oskaloosa.

According to first responders, the child, while attempting to cross the highway on foot, inadvertently ran into the side of a southbound truck, resulting in serious injuries.

The victim was promptly transported to Mahaska Health, where they are currently being treated for injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.

The truck driver, who stopped immediately south of the accident scene, has cooperated fully with law enforcement officials conducting the investigation.

Authorities have confirmed that the truck driver has not been cited, implying no immediate fault in the incident, and was allowed to leave the scene after providing the necessary information.
