Oskaloosa Girls Secure Victory While Boys Stumble Against Gilbert in Bowling Meet

Oskaloosa, December 4, 2023 – In a competitive bowling meet held at Oskaloosa, the local girls’ team emerged victorious against Gilbert, advancing their season record to 2-0. The boys’ team, however, faced a setback, dropping to a 1-1 season record after a loss to Gilbert.

The Oskaloosa Girls team showcased a commendable performance, achieving their best series of the season with a total pin count of 2339. Sidney Thompson led the team with a two-game series totaling 377 pins, including individual games of 180 and 196. Ava Ridenour also made a significant contribution with her season-best two-game series of 365 pins, featuring a high game of 195.

The Oskaloosa Boys team struggled to match the Gilbert team. Despite a commendable effort, they were unable to secure a win. Trey VanWyk stood out for Oskaloosa with a notable 493 series, highlighted by a high game of 259. Marshal Seibert also delivered a solid performance, contributing a 421 series with a high game of 223. The boys’ team showed capability in the singles game, yet acknowledged the need for improvement in spare games and a more vigorous start in baker games. These areas of focus are expected to be key in their strategy for the remainder of the season.
