Benson honored for individual effort at national triathlon meet
TEMPE, ARIZONA — The All-American lists from last weekend’s USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships were announced Thursday and Grace Benson (sophomore, Newton) of the Central College triathlon team was a Division III honorable mention.
Benson was 21st among Division III entries and 132nd overall. The top seven Division III finishers were first team All-American, Nos. 8-14 were second team and Nos. 15-21 were honorable mentions.
Benson completed Saturday’s race in 1 hour, 21 minutes and 13.9 seconds. As a team, Central placed eighth among 11 Division III teams
The sophomore was also an honorable mention in 2022 after finishing 17th.
