Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) Falls To Tigers

Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) lost to Tigers 9-4 on Friday.

Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) opened the scoring in the second after Jake North grounded out, scoring one run.

Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the second. Braxton Shaffer homered to left field, scoring three runs, to give Tigers the upper hand, 3-1.

Tigers added one run in the third. Brooks Vosburg grounded out, making the score 4-1.

Caleb Cohrt took the loss for Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity). They went three innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking none. Carson Penyich started on the bump for Tigers. They gave up six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out three and walking two.

Wyatt Grubb and Jarrod Parks were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) while hitting back-to-back. North seized on their opportunities, leading Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-3 on the day.

Tigers collected 11 hits in the game. Brady Grife, Penyich, Shaffer, and Vosburg each collected two hits for Tigers. Penyich and Shaffer each drove in three runs for Tigers. Tigers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Grife made the most plays with five.
