Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) Loses Lead Early in Defeat

Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-1 loss to Pella Christian Varsity Eagles on Thursday. Pella Christian Varsity Eagles took the lead on a home run in the first inning.
The Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity) struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Pella Christian Varsity Eagles, giving up 13 runs.
Pella Christian Varsity Eagles got things started in the first inning. Caleb Van Arendonk homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Pella Christian Varsity Eagles scored six runs in the second inning. Collin Vanderwal, Lincoln Vander Molen, and Grant Kelderman each had RBIs in the frame.
Kelderman was on the pitcher’s mound for Pella Christian Varsity Eagles. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out three.
Kam Criss led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity). The bulldog went one and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on four hits. Logan Hoskinson and Caden Johnson entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.
Hoskinson, Tucker DeJong, and Caleb Cohrt each collected one hit to lead Oskaloosa Indians (Varsity).
Pella Christian Varsity Eagles racked up 11 hits in the game. Vander Molen, Van Arendonk, and Simon Belzer each had multiple hits for Pella Christian Varsity Eagles. Vander Molen led Pella Christian Varsity Eagles with three hits in three at bats.
