NM Girls Compete at BP

BELLE PLAINE – Five runnerup finishes allowed North Mahaska girls to take fourth at the Belle Plaine Relays Tuesday. The meet had a solid number of teams with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont winning the meet with 156 points. Lynnville-Sully was second with 108 and Alburnett with 99. North Mahaska scored 77 ahead of fifth place Montezuma, who had 56.

All five seconds came in individual events. Kayla Readshaw was second in the 400 meters in 1 minute 8.77 seconds and Ally Steil in the 800 meters in 2:49.51. Both events were won by EBF’s Caroline Van Utrecht.

Emmerson Jedlicka was second to Lynnville-Sully’s Greenlee Smock in the 3,000 in 12:26.96. Jedlicka added a third in the 1,500 with a time of 5:58.37. Sydney Andersen was the runnerup in the shot with a put of 31-feet 4-inches.

Hanna Wernli and Breckyn Schilling earned second and fourth in the long jump. Wernli had a leap of 15-4.5 and Schilling went 14-6.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Schilling, Amber Knockel, Kieren Perez and Wernli ran third in 1:23.6.

North Mahaska girls will be back in action on Tuesday, April 4 at Lynnville-Sully.
