NM Girls Keep Rolling
NEW SHARON – North Mahaska forced 23 turnovers in the game and outscored Lynnville-Sully 24-5 in the first quarter enroute to a 50-27 South Iowa Cedar League victory. The host Warhawks held L-S to just seven field goals.
By halftime North Mahaska had nearly tripled the score leading 32-11. Again, it was a quartet of sophomores that led the way for the Warhawks. Breckyn Schilling had a strong outing with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists, five steals and a blocked shot. Regan Grew hit double figures with 10 points and five assists. Sydney Andersen added 10 rebounds and six points while Libby Hargis had six points, four steals and three assists. Senior Jessica Castaneda pulled down eight rebounds.
Fifteen of the 23 turnovers came on steals by NM. They also held a rebounding edge 35-29 and turned the ball over just 10 times.
North Mahaska hit 21-of-60 shots from the floor. Neither team was stellar from the foul line. Lynnville-Sully went 12-for-27 while NM was 3-for-10.
Lynnville Sully was led by Greenlee Smock with seven points. Aubree Arthur added six and Brooke Conover 5.
North Mahaska travels to PCM Monday for nonconference play then goes to Montezuma on Tuesday.
